The Kahoka Community
Kahoka was platted in 1858. The city is named for the historic Cahokia tribe of the Illiniwek or Illinois Confederacy, which occupied territory on both sides of the Mississippi River in this area at the time of European encounter.
Kahoka is a city in and the county seat of Clark County, in the northeast tip of Missouri, United States. … As of the 2020 census, its population was 1,961. Kahoka is pretty much your average small town with a few gas stations and a cafe, as well as a Mexican restaurant. I like how everyone pretty much knows each other and its nice because it makes you feel included, and everyone also watches out for each other.
Mule Festival
Duer’s is proud to support the Clark County Mule Festival, a longtime celebration of local heritage and community spirit. Held the third full weekend of September each year in Kahoka, the festival brings families and visitors together for a weekend centered around mules and the people who raise and work with them. From mule games and rodeo events to craft booths, music, and camping, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Every event at the festival highlights the mule, making it a truly unique and tradition-rich experience. Supporting the Mule Festival is one way Duer’s helps preserve local traditions and bring the community together.
Old Settlers Day
Duer’s also supports Old Settlers Day, a cherished community tradition organized by the Kahoka and Clark County Chamber of Commerce. This event celebrates the area’s history with activities like the main parade, pet parade, decorated bike contest, and pedal tractor pull. Families can also enjoy community favorites such as the pumpkin contest, VFW fish fry, and live music. One of the most meaningful traditions is recognizing the oldest Clark County resident in attendance each year. Supporting Old Settlers Day reflects Duer’s commitment to honoring local history and giving back to the community it serves.
